Vinexpo Asia-Pacific 2012, the international wine and spirits exhibition for Asia-Pacific, gets underway Tuesday in Hong Kong and is set to be the biggest exhibition to date.
Wine and spirit professionals attending the exhibition are expected to break the attendance record of 12,617 at the 2010 Vinexpo Asia-Pacific exhibition. This year there are a record 1,050 exhibitors from 28 countries. In 2010 there were 882 exhibitors.
The event was booked out six months in advance and the exhibition space has been increased by 25% to 10,500 square metres.
The expanded exhibition is an indication of the growth in volume and sophistication in the Chinese wine and spirits markets.
“According to the latest The IWSR / Vinexpo study, Asia will experience the strongest increase in its wine markets in the next 5 years with 5% annual growth compared to the world average that is less than 1%. Asia-Pacific remains the leading consumer region of spirits, having downed 1.18 billion 9-litre cases in 2009. 50.6% of all world spirits consumption takes place in Asia,” Vinexpo reported on their website.
