Decanter is reporting the £30,000 (ZAR 364,000) theft of South African wine from a London warehouse was carefully planned and the thieves had a good knowledge of South African wine with most of the expensive wines being stolen.

The wines were stolen last week from a Wimbledon warehouse owned by specialist wine importer South African Wines Online. The warehouse held over 20,000 bottles of wine from 800 different producers.

Julia Holbrook, the sales and marketing manager for South African Wines Online, told decanter.com that the thieves knew exactly what they were looking for. Wines stolen included the premium single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Vergelegen V, Paul Cluver’s Pinot Noir Seven Flags and Steenberg’s Semillon Sauvignon Blanc.
