Lapa Publishers recently donated children’s books to Dennegeur’s day care centre and aftercare facility in Franschhoek. La Motte, together with the other Rupert family farms, constructed Dennegeur, a modern village for its workers, close to the farms in Franschhoek.
Key to Dennegeur is the transfer of home ownership to farm workers, some of whom have spent their entire life working at La Motte. Apart from the family homes, Dennegeur has its own day care centre, a training centre, clinic and sport amenities.
There are fifty learners in the datcare centre, with ages ranging between 6 months and 6 years. In the aftercare facility there are 60 learners from Grade 1 to Grade 7.
In the photo above is myself with some of the children and their new books. Thank you to Lapa for their generous donation!
