La Motte’s tasting room was completely renovated and refurbished in 2009, and since then we have received nothing but compliments from visitors, who love the warm decor, attention to detail and knowledgeable staff in the tasting area.
Acclaimed South African decor magazine House and Leisure, together with Visa, published their annual ‘Best of SA’ supplement in the magazine’s November issue. The supplement celebrates ‘all the finer things in life across the country,’ according to editor Robyn Alexander, and strives to identify the best of everything, from head massages and martinis to book shops and fashion finds, in different regions in South Africa.
We are very honoured that La Motte was named as the best tasting room in South Africa. This is what House and Leisurehad to say:
“The new tasting room at Franschhoek wine estate is a masterpiece. Oriental carpets and South African art (including numerous Pierneefs) vie for attention with a glassed floor-to-ceiling view of the maturation cellars – and, of course, the excellent estate wines crafted by winemaker Edmund Terblanche. Thoughtful touches for each taster: a mini ciabatta and a huge linen napkin.”
