Franschhoek’s annual Bastille Festival is underway and is well worth a visit either today or tomorrow. A special part of this year’s festival is a multifaceted collaboration between France and South Africa. Known as the the SA-French Seasons 2012-13, the collaboration covers fields of arts and culture, gastronomy, and sport amongst others.
Visitors to this year’s Bastille Festival will have the chance to meet 10 winemakers from the Rhône-Alpes Region in France, who will be showcasing some of their finest wines. These French wines will be available for tasting at two wine tastings organised specifically for members of the public, as well as in a specially demarcated VIP marquee, adjacent to the main marquee during the festival.
In the photo above, I am speaking at La Motte at the opening of the Bastille Festival. The photo below is a selection of French ingredients from the La Motte farm shop. The photo at the bottom is the entrance to Leopard’s Leap Vineyards
specially decked out for the weekend.
